The Ministry of Interior through a press statement has denied reports that SC Fred Matiang’i asked the Deputy President William Ruto to resign for criticising the police over the harassment of senators.
The Ministry now accuses NTV for misrepresenting facts, arguing that report carried out at 9PM on Wednesday is false and malicious.
“The Ministry of Interior and Coordination if National Government takes great exception to the false and malicious report…suggesting that the Cabinet Secretary called for the resignation of the Deputy President.” read a statement to the media.
There was widespread criticism of the Cabinet Secretary for purportedly calling for the resignation of his boss, who was elected alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Ministry has further warned against misrepresentation of facts by media houses, saying that such actions can damage the relationship between the CS and Deputy President.
“The unverified report is a misrepresentation of the true record of the proceedings readily and publicly available, even to NTV, in Parliament’s Hansard records. The net effect of such fabrications can cause disharmony in the executive arm of government.”
Consequently, the CS has instructed his lawyers to take necessary legal action against the Nation Media Group for malicious report.
“The Ministry is also aware that the Cabinet Secretary has referred the matter to his lawyers for further action.”
