The international friendly between Algeria and Nigeria in Austria this coming weekend will be held behind closed doors, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) confirmed during the weekend.
Earlier media reports which had speculated that up to 10,000 fans would be allowed to attend the match has been debunked by the FAF, via a press release on their official website by the weekend.
The FAF stated: “Due to the many requests it has received on this subject, the Algerian Football Federation regrets to inform the general public, in particular the supporters of the Greens established in Europe, that the two matches Algeria – Nigeria (on 10/09/2020) and Algeria – Mexico (on 10/13/2020) will take place without the presence of the public (behind closed doors).”
“It is therefore useless to travel or pretend to acquire entrance tickets.”
Algeria’s clash against Mexico on October 13 will take place at the Cars Jeans Stadium in The Hague, Netherlands, while Nigeria will remain in St. Veit an der Glan for a friendly against Tunisia, also scheduled for October 13.
