DP Ruto Hits Back at Murathe for Dragging Him Into Kemsa Graft Case

Deputy president William Ruto will not take jabs lying down.
In a morning tweet, the DP hit out at Jubilee party vice chair David Murathe who on Tuesday night dragged him into the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) saga.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Murathe claimed that the second in command was a well known partner of the owners of a company that received billions from KEMSA.

Murathe admitted to knowing the owner of Kilig Limited, a company that received Sh7.7 billion for supplying 450,000 PPEs to the agency.
The party vice chair who has been feuding with the DP for a while now, said he and Kilig Limited owner William Gachoka have partnered in various projects but not the KEMSA deal.
“I have absolutely nothing to do with Kilig. I have partnered with William on a number of issues but not on this one… We are family friends from childhood… We are consultants. We do a lot of consultant business…” he said.

According to Murathe, at the time of supplying PPEs to KEMSA, Kilig was not under his friend’s leadership.
“We have the legal transfers, and the bank accounts.. The owners of the company are known partners of the deputy president,” he continued.
In a tweet directed at Murathe, the DP who is keen on taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022, said those using him as a scapegoat will have nowhere to hide as the end is “nigh.”
“The corruption “consultants”, brokers & conmen, some bankrupt in 2013, are now billionaires after looting while scapegoating WsR. Their overgrown IMPUNITY is shamelessly making them steal even from the sick in a pandemic.

The END is nigh. NOWHERE TO HIDE. NO MORE SCAPEGOATING,” the DP wrote.
Ruto has in the recent past accused Murathe of trying to edge him out of the ruling party.
He has labelled him a political conman who has hijacked the party.
Should push come to shove, the DP has indicated that he will not hesitate to jump ship and form a party.
