The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said Egypt stands by her brothers in Sudan to counter the ramifications of the flood accident on the basis of the brotherly ties between the people of the Nile Valley, the historical relations and the sharing of the same course and destiny that all bring the two countries together.

The Bout Dam collapsed on Thursday due to heavy rains in southeastern Sudan, resulting in the destruction of 600 houses while another 600 families trapped by the flood waters.

Sudanese media reported that the Bout dam was storing five million cubic meters of water coming from Ingessana Hills at a time when Sudan experiences heavy rains between June and October annually.
