Kenya’s DPP Orders Arrest of Two Police Officers Accused of Murder

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has ordered arrest of 2 cops who killed 2 civilians in Garissa last week, to be charged with murder.

The two police officers are Adam Ibrahim Salat and Abdirahman Roble who are stationed at the Garissa Directoratr of Criminal Investigations Office.

According to reports, Aden Abdi Madobe and Muhiyadin Adow Shibin were killed by police officers who had been searching for terror suspects.

The incident attrracted the ire of local residents among them, Garissa town Member of Parliament Aden Duale and Garissa County Governor Ali Korane who asked the Matiang’i-led Ministry of Interior to escalate probe into the matter and take immediate action.

“I condemn the cold blooded and heinous murder of 2 innocent Kenyans at the Garissa Livestock Market, in Garissa town by the police. The rogue killer cops must be brought to book,” said Korane in a tweet.

Meanwhile the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Chairperson Ann Makori in a statement made available to africanewsplus said the Authority had dispatched its Rapid Investigations Team to Garissa County to establish the circumstances that led to the fatal shootings.

“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the Authority will make appropriate recommendations; including prosecution in the event the officers are indicted for using lethal force inappropriately,” she said.
