Lyon Roars Past Manchester City to Secure UEFA Champions League Semi Final

French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyonnais has qualified for their first UEFA Champions League semi final since 2009/10 after beating Manchester City 1:3 on Saturday evening.

Maxwel Cornet gave OL a first half lead after opening the scoring in the 24th minute before Kelvin De Bruyne’s second half equalizer at the 69th minute.

Super sub Dembélé sends Lyon to semi-finals with his second half brace at the 79th and 87th min. He has now scored seven UEFA Champions League goals in 25 matches – four of them against Manchester City.

For the first time in the UEFA Champions League era, there will be no semi-finalists from England, Spain or Italy. And two from France.

Lyon will take on Bayern in the semi-finals. Their single-leg tie will kick off at 20:00 WAT on Wednesday 19 August and be held at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
