Schools Across Kenya to Remain Closed For Face to Face Learning, President Kenyatta Announces

President Kenyatta Re-opens Bars, Extend Curfew by 60 Days

President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that all learning institutions to remain closed for the safety of children, which has all but dashed hopes of thousands of learners that schools will be re-opened soon.

During his long awaited speech, the President said that the safety and well-being of children must be guaranteed before schools are allowed to re-open.
Uhuru made the announcement as he closed the National Covid-19 Conference at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

“Let us not ask when schools will be reopened; let’s ask ourselves how we shall open schools and at the same time protecting our children from the danger of being infected with COVID-19,” President Kenyatta said.
