Road accident in Dundori

Scores feared dead following a tragic road accident in Dundori, Nakuru County on Thursday afternoon after a truck lost control and crushed into roadside traders.

The transit good which was headed to Nakuru from Nyahururu was speeding before it lost control.

Witness statements show that the truck hit electricity pole before it rammed into parked vehicles and roadside small-scale traders.

Eyewitnesses further say that more the lorry rammed into more than 10 cars, even as police have cordoned off the scene to rescue victims and clear the wreckage.

The accident caused a massive blackout in areas around Dundori, forcing Kenya Power to switch off power to avoid breakout of fires.

On Monday, August 24, a truck lost control before hitting two Matatus bodabodas moments before it ran over women hawking groceries by the roadside.

Witnesses say that more than 10 people have been killed and scores injured.

Just two weeks ago, a truck driver was burnt beyond recognition while two others sustained injuries after a fuel tanker lost control before catching fire along the Bungoma-Malaba highway in Teso North Sub County.

The Malaba Webuye highway has been a notorious black spot where fatal accidents take away precious lives.

In June 2019, eight people died on the spot after a Matatu they were travelling in collided with a bus at Matulo Corner along the Webuye-Bungoma highway.
