United Nations Secretary-General Condemns Lagos Violence

António Manuel United Nations

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Manuel, has in what seem to be long overdue, condemned the violence that has erupted as a result of the use of force on #ENDSARS Protesters in Lagos.

António Manuel said

“I condemn the escalation of violence in Lagos, Nigeria, which has resulted in multiple deaths & injuries.

I call for demonstrations to be peaceful and for an end to reported police brutality & abuses. Authorities must investigate these incidents & hold perpetrators accountable.

It is noted that a majority of the #ENDSARS protesters has been calling on the intervention of the United Nations, an intergovernmental organization that aims to maintain international peace and security, for some days now as they are of the opinion that the intervention of international bodies would ensure the Nigerian government yield to their demands.
